Three Little Gobblers
Custom Turkey Shirts
Thanksgiving

Brianna, Emmah and Jake are sporting their turkey shirts for Thanksgiving. I am glad this sibling team and their momma like the shirts I made. I also made the reversible pants to match Emmah's shirt. Thanks, Brittany, for allowing me to use this picture of your little gobblers!

Shelby's Skirt
Her First Sewing Project

Shelby began and completed her first sewing project this morning. She chose the fabric and design plus she did the majority of the cutting and sewing. The entire process took just under 4 hours which included plenty of breaks during that time! I am very proud of her work endurance. She can't wait until we go out this afternoon so she can wear it.

Gobble, Gobble
Custom Made Turkey Shirts

I have been inspired by a friend to get back into my sewing. Lately, I have been making several outfits for Shelby and my friend's little girl. I made both girls the ribbon turkey shirt and skirt set for Thanksgiving. Others then asked for turkey shirts! I made a baby boy's camo onesie which lead to an order for the baby girl's onesie sets pictured here. When those were delivered yesterday, I received orders for 4 more. I guess I need to stop blogging and start sewing if I want to get them finished before Thanksgiving!

Congratulations Shelby!

Fall Road Trip
Yesterday morning Bob, Shelby and I took off on an impromptu road trip to see some fall foliage. We traveled Rt. 60 (aka Midland Trail) to Kanawha Falls. It was cool, cloudy and a little rainy but was still a nice drive. We stayed at the Glen Ferris Inn which is located along the Kanawha River at the falls. Dinner and breakfast there were great but unfortunately the dining room that sits along the river was closed. Our room however did overlook the falls. We also went to Hawks Nest State Park, The Mystery Hole, and the New River Gorge Bridge. Shelby's favorite part was the Mystery Hole. That old VW in the side of it looks pretty bad now. I guess it will show my age by saying I can remember when that place was new! We would travel by there going to see my aunt and her family in the Lewisburg area but my dad would never stop. I have to say that it is something everyone needs to experience at least once in his or her life!

Way Down Yonder in the Pumpkin Patch

Shelby and I just got home from the Girl Scout field trip to the pumpkin patch. She had fun picking out the "perfect" pumpkin and going on a hay ride. She can't wait until she can decorate her pumpkin. We are planning to go back soon and take Josh and Delainy. We think they would have as much fun (if not more) as she did.

First Day of School
Shelby started 1st grade today. She was a little nervous, but the nervousness quickly subsided. Bob decided to go into work late today so that he could drive her to school this morning and walk her into her room. I got to play the obnoxious parent with the camera! When asked how her day went, Shelby keeps replying, "It was AWESOME!"

These bowls hold 2 cups which make them great when needing an impromptu measuring cup. They are also the perfect size for making the individual sizes of Kraft Easy Mac! As with all Longaberger Pottery, these bowls are oven, microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe.
Coming in September, are the new Longaberger Pottery soup and sandwich plates. These fit the plates perfectly. Just imagine this fall....a hot bowl of chili and a grilled cheese sandwich served using the chili bowls and NEW sandwich plates.

In the Smokies Again

I am back in the Smoky Mountains this week for a family vacation with my husband and daughter and my husband's brother and his family. Thus far we have been to Cade's Cove, Douglas Dam, Downtown Gatlinburg, the water park and pool at the resort just to name a few places. Here are some pictures we have taken so far. I will have some better bear pictures to post later. The bear actually came within 5 feet of the vehicle!
